to move—

That the House:

(1)

acknowledges those Australians who have selflessly donated their organs, and those who have given consent to do so, so that others may have the gift of life;

(2)

recognises, in this Organ Donor Awareness Week, the importance of organ donation;

(3)

recognises that although 90% of Australians support organ donation, and while Australia has one of the most successful organ transplantation rates in the world, actual organ donation rates are amongst the lowest in the developed world; and

(4)

supports the Government’s initiatives to improve organ donation rates.
