The government has made clear that we will be providing assistance to support jobs and competitiveness in the most affected industries, including steel. It is worthwhile noting that under the government’s previous scheme, the carbon pollution reduction scheme, BlueScope would have received 94.5 per cent of their permits for free, very substantially offsetting their carbon liability.
