Major-General Jim Molan has just this week joined the Senate. He defended Australian values in the battle against Islamist terrorism in the Middle East. He has stood up for our values, put his life on the line and led our troops and those of our allies in conflict. He has led thousands of troops in the battle for freedom against terrorism. The Leader of the Opposition wants to describe him as a racist. That is deplorable. It is disgusting. Jim Molan is a great Australian soldier. We are lucky to have him in the Senate. He doesn't have a racist bone in his body. He stood up for freedom. He stood up against terrorism. He stood up against extremism. He and thousands of others like him are the reasons we enjoy the freedoms we are practising in this chamber today.
