My question is to the Minister for Revenue and Financial Services. I refer to reports that a group of government backbenchers, known as the parliamentary friends of payday lending, have enlisted the Treasurer to water down the Minister for Revenue and Financial Services' payday lending legislation. Why is this government protecting unscrupulous operators in the payday lending industry by watering down this important legislation, instead of protecting vulnerable Australians who are already doing it tough?
