I thank all members who have contributed to the debate on the Australian Research Council Amendment Bill 2018 and welcome the support of those opposite for this bill. The bill allows the ARC to continue to support Australia's best researchers to undertake the highest quality fundamental and applied research and research training. The bill increases the funding caps in the Australian Research Council Act 2001 to continue the Turnbull government's strong support for research projects that are expanding Australia's research and scientific capabilities and providing many thousands of direct and indirect jobs. I commend the bill.
