Urgent action is required to improve road safety at the dangerous intersection of Seacrest Drive and Marmion Avenue. According to the RAC, there have been 31 crashes and countless near misses at the local blackspot in Sorrento. A recent RAC survey nominated the intersection as Perth's most hazardous. I have been working with concerned members of the local community towards a solution, including Sacred Heart College. I recently met onsite with members of the Sorrento community to hear their concerns. Whilst talking to residents I met 20-year-old Kirby Dees, a local resident who sustained a broken wrist in an accident at the intersection whilst on her way home. I've launched a petition that has already been signed by hundreds of concerned residents, and I call upon the federal government to provide the necessary road safety funding required to install a roundabout or a set of traffic signals at the intersection as a matter of urgency. Failure to act on this matter will only result in more accidents and more injuries to the local community.
