10:01 am
Mr Tony Burke (Watson, Australian Labor Party, Minister for Employment and Workplace Relations) Share this | Hansard source
by leave—I move:
That so much of the standing and sessional orders be suspended as would prevent the following from occurring in relation to business for today:
(1) the Prime Minister moving a motion of condolence in relation to the death of Peta Jan Murphy;
(2) the Leader of the Opposition speaking next to the motion;
(3) debate continuing, with each Member speaking for no longer than 10 minutes, until no further Members rise to speak;
(4) debate on the motion being adjourned and made an order of the day for the next sitting;
(5) the House suspending for 30 minutes;
(6) upon resumption of the sitting, the House considering any messages from the Senate;
(7) the House then immediately adjourning until 9 am, Thursday, 7 December 2023; and
(8) at 2 pm on Thursday 7 December, the order of the day for the resumption of debate on the motion moved by the Prime Minister being called on and the motion being carried in silence, with all Members present standing;
(9) standing orders 31, 33 and 133 being suspended for this sitting; and
(10) any variation to this arrangement to be made only by a motion moved by a Minister.
Question agreed to.
