My question is to the Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry. Given the urgent demands of fruit growers in Queensland and New South Wales, the National Farmers Federation and the Horticulture Australia Council that the government honour its election promise to enact a mandatory code of conduct for the horticulture industry—including growers, wholesalers and the major supermarket chains—will the minister implement the mandatory code of conduct immediately or is the minister no longer responsible for its implementation?

I thank the honourable member for his question. This is a matter under continuing consideration by the government and when a position is reached and concluded and announced I am sure the member will be amongst the first to know.
