Mr Speaker, as a member of the House of Representatives Standing Committee on Communications I ask that you take action on the less than satisfactory performance of this committee. It is not doing the work expected of it. This year the committee has only met for four short housekeeping meetings and one departmental briefing. Two other scheduled meetings were cancelled and no meetings have yet been held to take evidence on the committee’s current inquiry. The House is well served by committees that work hard, have meaningful inquiries and produce useful reports. I believe this committee is not currently fulfilling its obligations to the House.
