by leave—For the benefit of members, the debate will commence on the Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme legislation on Wednesday, after the introduction of some new bills. I have had discussions with the Manager of Opposition Business and we have agreed that an assessment will be made then and—by agreement—perhaps the House might extend its sittings on Wednesday evening past eight o’clock, perhaps to around 10 pm, and on Thursday past five o’clock perhaps to seven pm, by agreement without votes being held so as to maximise the contribution that members are able to make. I make this statement to the House for the benefit of members but also, importantly, for the benefit of parliamentary staff.
