My question is to the Prime Minister. I remind the Prime Minister of her statement:
Labor will end the so-called Pacific solution … because it is costly, unsustainable and wrong as a matter of principle.
Given that her expert panel disagrees and Labor will now restore offshore processing, will she now apologise for her policy failure that led to 1,000 deaths at sea, 22,000 illegal arrivals and a $4.7 billion cost blow-out?
Julia Gillard (Lalor, Australian Labor Party, Prime Minister) Share this | Link to this | Hansard source
I counsel the Deputy Leader of the Opposition to study this report in detail. What she will find when she studies this report in detail is that it is not saying to us: 'Just exactly redo what was done in the past.' It is not saying that. She is consequently verballing the eminent Australians who put this report together, and I suggest she apologise for that.
It being after 3.10, I ask that further questions be placed on the Notice Paper.
