The recently released agricultural green paper outlines how we will get a farm gate price that rewards farmers, so that they will invest, create jobs, produce more, export more and create prosperity in the regions. It highlights what I have been saying for years: that there are things we have got to fix if we are really going to capture the agricultural opportunity we face—things like opening up export markets that were shut down by those opposite. It highlights the desperate need for investment in infrastructure, training and research while nurturing the fast-evolving family farm. The green paper has been built from the ground up, and I thank producers who contributed to a task force meeting in Goulburn in March this year.
