On Monday I had the pleasure of meeting two of my electorate's brightest students, Gabrielle Schiller and Lucy Frost, right here in Parliament House. Gabrielle is from Darwin Middle School, in my electorate, and she was the runner-up for the Simpson Prize. Lucy is from the Palmerston Senior College, and she is the winner for the Northern Territory. Congratulations to both of them.
I would like to read an extract from Lucy's essay. It said:
To the extent of giving up their lives is how far an Australian would go to protect what they love.
To the extent of defending our nation, our history and our Mother Country.
All Australians would go to the absolute lengths to prove their loyalty and their pride in what they believe in.
