I was delighted to meet recently with the mayor of the Shire of Nillumbik—Councillor Karen Egan; Councillor Peter Clarke and the CEO of the shire, Carl Cowie—to discuss a number of congestion-busting and road safety improvement projects which the Morrison government has agreed to fund in the shire. These include increasing the number of car parking places at Eltham railway station; improving the drop-off and pick-up points at about 15 or 16 different school and preschool locations in Nillumbik; and, importantly, improving the flow from Main Road onto Fitzsimons Lane, one of the most congested parts of the shire at the present time. I look forward to further meetings in which I can continue to liaise with the council to bring these projects to fruition for the benefit of the residents of Menzies and the shire of Nillumbik.
