On behalf of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Public Works, I present the committee's report No. 4 for 2019, relating to a referral made in September 2019.
Report made a parliamentary paper in accordance with standing order 39(e).
by leave—The committee's report No. 4 considers one proposal re-referred to the committee in September 2019 that had lapsed in the 45th Parliament. The proposal is the fit-out of new leased Australian Federal Police premises at 140 Lonsdale Street in Melbourne, Victoria. The AFP sought approval from the committee to proceed with the project in order to fit out the relocated Melbourne state office without causing disruption to AFP operations. The estimated cost of this project is $98.43 million, excluding GST. The committee recommended the House find it expedient that the fit-out of the new leased AFP premises at 140 Lonsdale Street in Melbourne proceed. Report No. 4 reflects work largely completed by the committee in the 45th Parliament.
Accordingly, I thank the members of the Public Works Committee of the 45th Parliament for their expertise in conducting the inquiry as well as members of the Public Works Committee in the current parliament for concluding this process. I commend the report to the House.
