Today I rise to speak about the health and wellbeing of my community. In my electorate of Lindsay, I'm taking action to encourage a more healthy and active community. Health today must be a multifaceted, collaborative approach covering lifestyle, mental health, wellbeing, preventative health and education. None of this can be done alone. We need to work together to tackle these challenges in a way that will make a positive impact across all aspects of our community.
That's why I've established the Lindsay Healthy Active Living Network, launched by the Minister for Health and bringing together our local health, community, sporting and lifestyle organisations to collaborate on ways that we can ensure the people of Lindsay are living healthier, more active lives. It is my aim, as part of the Lindsay Healthy Active Living Network, to address important health and wellbeing issues and deliver actionable plans that lead to better health outcomes for our community. This includes campaigning for Lindsay's very own City to Lakes. Just like Sydney's famous City2Surf, it's a 14 kilometre walking or running event from the Penrith city centre to the Nepean River, with the finish line at the Sydney International Regatta Centre. Our very own Prime Minister rowed on the beautiful Nepean River as a kid. It is the heart of our city. I've been working closely with local businesses and Penrith city councillor and mayor, Ross Fowler, to create the Lindsay City to Lakes, and I look forward to all of our community having the opportunity to be involved.
