I have to report to the House that, on 7 September 2020, I received advice from the Chief Government Whip nominating Mr Young to be a member of the Joint Select Committee on Australia's Family Law System. In accordance with standing order 229(b), as the House was not expected to sit for several weeks, the appointment became effective on that date. I now call the minister to move a motion to resolve the membership of the committee.
