I rise to acknowledge Rostrevor College, in my electorate of Sturt, which celebrates its centenary this year. Established in 1923, the school has been educating young men in the eastern and north-eastern suburbs of Adelaide for 100 years in the Edmund Rice tradition. Two weeks ago, it was a great pleasure and privilege to join with nearly 800 people at the Adelaide Convention Centre to celebrate the centenary at the gala dinner, bringing together current and former students, current and former staff and so many members of the community to acknowledge the history of the school—the 100 years gone—and perhaps more importantly to talk about and celebrate the 100 years, and many more, to come.
I particularly thank the chair of the College Advisory Council, Steve Olech, and the principal, Shana Bennett, for inviting me to be there along with the state members John Gardner and Vincent Tarzia. In fact, Vincent is an old scholar of the school—and dux of his year, he would want me to point out to the chamber. It was a pleasure to celebrate with the school not just what they have achieved in the last 100 years, which is so impressive, but also what they are doing now and what they will do into the future. I commend and congratulate everyone associated with the school on the last 100 years and the many hundred years into the future.
