The Maritime Transport and Offshore Facilities Security Amendment (Maritime Security Guards and Other Measures) Bill 2005 [2006] amends the Maritime Transport and Offshore Facilities Security Act 2003 to clarify and define the role of maritime security guards. This bill gives maritime security guards additional powers necessary for improving the security regime on and around vessels and ports. This includes, firstly, empowering a maritime security guard—
