I welcome the opportunity to finally debate the Broadcasting Legislation Amendment Bill (No. 1) 2005 [2006]. I do note the absence of the Minister for Communications, Information Technology and the Arts in the chamber. I guess that the world of fast-moving telecommunications and broadcasting is leaving her a little lagging—like our broadband speeds.
