by leave—This is a short statement. The request to emergency list the Cairns Yacht Club was made to the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and the Arts on 3 July. For a place to be included on the National Heritage List under the emergency provision the minister must be satisfied that (a) the place has one or more national heritage values; (b) that any of those values is under threat of a significant adverse impact; and (c) that the threat is both likely and imminent. It would be inappropriate for the government to support any motion which would, in effect, prejudge the minister’s determination in respect of this decision.
Question agreed to.
