by leave—Mr President, I wish to associate myself with the remarks that have been made about our Black Rod, Andrea Griffiths. For the duration of the time that I was President, Andrea was a wonderful person to work with. You know, Mr President, how daunting the first few days can be as a presiding officer. The sure-handedness with which Andrea went about her job put me at ease and she made sure that I knew exactly what was happening. Andrea is respected equally on all sides of the parliament and is a true professional. Andrea, I just want to place on record my appreciation of all you did for me while I was President of the Senate. I understand your reasons for leaving at such a young age and I wish you and Keith and your family all the best in your retirement.
