I seek leave to amend general business notice of motion No. 630 standing in my name for today relating to an audit of funds spent in Indonesia for asylum seeker management and people-smuggling.
Leave granted.
I move the motion as amended:
That the Senate calls on the Australian Government to conduct an audit of where and how much Australian funds are being used to support Indonesia and any other countries in the region in asylum seeker management and people smuggling efforts, and subsequent compliance with international human rights standards, with particular reference to, but not limited to:
- (a)
- detention facilities and conditions;
- (b)
- operational equipment and training; and
- (c)
- the interception of suspected illegal entry vessels.
Question agreed to.
