I thank the opposition for indicating their support. This is non-controversial legislation. It aims to modernise Australia’s personal insolvency system and, in particular, provide debtors with overwhelming debts a more realistic opportunity to obtain advice and consider all options before contemplating bankruptcy. I thank Senator Brandis for outlining the government’s amendments to the bill. I commend the bill to the Senate.
