I will be brief and direct my comments to some of the remarks and contribution made by Senator Cormann which relate directly to his question. I was not able to provide the information he has sought from the Minister for Financial Services and Superannuation, Mr Shorten. First, I make the point that the information that Senator Cormann has sought is complex to gather and bring together. It is not easy. I do have some familiarity with the details of the information that Senator Cormann is seeking, but best efforts are being made and I would hope that at least some of that material—if not all—can be provided as soon as possible.
The second point I make is that Senator Cormann refers to the current penalty regime. What I would point out to Senator Cormann and to anyone listening to this debate is that the current penalty regime was introduced by the former Liberal government.
