Rest assured, Senator Nash, that we are not in a corner on this issue. What I have indicated to you is that, when you compare what this govern­ment has done in terms of the childcare rebate, it has significantly improved the position for most families. I will repeat the figures that I gave you a moment ago. The amounts have gone up from $4,354 to $7,500. That is an increase of 72 per cent and is $3,146 more than what was the case under your government.
