I move the following amendment to the motion:

To omit the words 'moved and determined without debate' and substitute the words 'and have precedence over all other business today until determined'.

In speaking to this amendment, it is absolutely and vitally important that we as a Senate understand the consequences of the path that is being sought to be gone down. For Palmer United to now move a motion to say that we should go down this unprincipled and unprecedented path without any debate whatsoever indicates the paucity of argument in favour of this motion.
