It is with deep regret that I inform the Senate of the death, on 21 October 2014, of the Honourable Edward Gough Whitlam, AC, QC, a member of the House of Representatives for the division of Werriwa, New South Wales, from 1952 until 1978 and Prime Minister of Australia from 1972 to 1975. I call the Leader of the Government in the Senate, Senator Abetz.
