The opposition will not be supporting these amendments. We acknowledge the intention that Senator Muir is indicating: the genuine interest in ensuring that we have an adequate review here. It was, indeed, why we supported—but, unfortunately, saw the demise of—Senator Wong's amendment for the review. But, as Senator Muir just referred to, we watched the Greens and the coalition block even something as straightforward as an independent review. Nevertheless, we do not support a sunset clause as the best avenue to force a review of this legislation, and for that reason we cannot support Senator Muir's amendments.
