This legislation to axe the so-called gold pass scheme for former MPs was passed in the House of Representatives in October 2014—more than 500 days ago. This motion seeks to ensure that this bill is debated on 2 May, when the parliament resumes, in order that we can deal with it once and for all. Either the government is fair dinkum about getting rid of this perk, or it is not. That is what this motion is about.
