Of course, in Australia the budget and the performance of the government against the budget is scrutinised by none other than the very august Senate estimates committee process. Obviously we are always happy to take on board any suggestions on how the scrutiny of government performance can be further improved, but, as you would appreciate, this government complies with the same accounting standards and submits itself to the same accountability processes as governments of both political persuasions in the past.
