I will just put on the record that the Australian Greens are supporting these amendments from Senator Patrick. We sympathise with a number of the points and arguments that he has made, but suffice to say, if it is good enough for the electricity market and the energy market, why would we not be considering other areas where we need intervention and proper protection for consumers? The interesting aspect of this is that one of the reasons why we now have both the government and the opposition voting down this amendment and saying, 'Oh, no, we can't have this in any other sector,' is that this bill is not even going to deliver what the government is promising. It has nothing to do with low electricity prices and everything to do with coal burning for longer.
