There are worker shortages in the farming sector, as I have known over the past few years Australian farmers who cannot get Australians to do the work. I do believe that the government is trying to combat illegals coming into the country, but this has been going on for many years. I was informed 20 years ago. So both sides of this parliament are responsible for the numbers coming into his country, but the coalition are dealing with the boat people; under Labor leadership, we had over 50,000 come into the country.
Paragraph (b) of this motion 'calls on the Federal Government to take immediate action to combat workforce shortages in our horticultural industry by preventing the ongoing trafficking'. It's about the horticultural workforce and these people that are coming into the country. You are going to have fewer workers, and, unless you get Australian people that really do want to get out there and work—the farmers can't get Australians to do the work—you're going to have this ongoing problem. So they are going to get foreign workers to do the work. But I agree about getting rid of—
