As an initial measure, the larger streaming video services will be asked to commence reporting to the Australian Communications and Media Authority on Australian content acquisition from the 2021 calendar year. The government has also released its media reform green paper for consultation. The green paper seeks comment on a proposal to put a minimum Australian content spend requirement on streaming video on demand services.
