I rise to speak to the Aboriginal Land Grant (Jervis Bay Territory) Amendment (Strengthening Land and Governance Provisions) Bill 2022. This bill doesn't deal just with governance arrangements for the Wreck Bay community but also, importantly, with housing in a community which has been confronted by very poor standards of housing for a long time. The bill introduces changes to long-term leases to establish ownership-style leases.
