Aged Care Bill 2024, Aged Care Legislation Amendment Bill 2024; Second Reading

I move:

At the end of the motion, add ", but the Senate:

(a) notes:

(i) there is a regulatory gap between traditional registered providers and platform providers,

(ii) currently, platform providers operate with far fewer obligations, creating significant risks to service quality and the safeguarding of older Australians,

(iii) the need to ensure platform providers operate with the same transparency and safety as traditional registered providers; and

(b) calls on the Government to ensure platform providers must:

(i) demonstrate to the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission that they meet all of the strengthened Aged Care Quality Standards that apply to the service types they deliver and adhere directly to the Aged Care Code of Conduct,

(ii) be subject to regular and ongoing audits or compliance monitoring by the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission,

(iii) directly comply with the Serious Incident Response Scheme (SIRS) and report directly to the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission in line with the SIRS requirements".
