On 11 December 2023, the then home affairs minister, Clare O'Neil, issued a press statement, which included the comment, 'We are going to make sure we bring numbers back under control.' Minister, clearly you have not succeeded in getting the numbers back under control. Can you please explain the reason why this government has not been able to control how many people arrive in Australia?
