Senator Bob Brown asked me a question about bushfires and related research. I can say that I released a report in 2001 dealing with a model bushfire criminal offence and a report in 2004 by the Australian Institute of Criminology entitled Bushfire arson: a review of the literature. I seek to now table more recent research by the Australian Institute of Criminology, which I mentioned earlier, dealing with intervention programs, bushfire arson investigation and bushfire arson prevention, and also an update on the legislation in relation to the Model Criminal Code in relation to bushfire offences.
