REPORT NO. 11 OF 2007
- 1.
- The committee met in private session on Thursday, 21 June 2007 at 11.20 am.
- 2.
- The committee resolved to recommend—That—
- (a)
- the Aviation Legislation Amendment (2007 Measures No. 1) Bill 2007 be referred immediately to the Rural and Regional Affairs and Transport Committee for inquiry and report by 30 July 2007 (see appendix 1 for statements of reasons for referral);
- (b)
- the provisions of the Classification (Publications, Films and Computer Games) Amendment (Terrorist Material) Bill 2007 be referred immediately to the Legal and Constitutional Affairs Committee for inquiry and report by 30 July 2007 (see appendix 2 for statements of reasons for referral);
- (c)
- the provisions of the Financial Sector Legislation Amendment (Discretionary Mutual Funds and Direct Offshore Foreign Insurers) Bill 2007 and the Corporations (National Guarantee Fund Levies) Amendment Bill 2007 be referred immediately to the Economics Committee for inquiry and report by 31 July 2007 (see appendix 3 for statements of reasons for referral);
- (d)
- the provisions of the Financial Sector Legislation Amendment (Simplifying Regulation and Review) Bill 2007 be referred immediately to the Economics Committee for inquiry and report by 31 July 2007 (see appendix 4 for statements of reasons for referral);
- (e)
- the provisions of the Higher Education Support Amendment (Extending FEE-HELP for VET Diploma and VET Advanced Diploma Courses) Bill 2007 be referred immediately to the Employment, Workplace Relations and Education Committee for inquiry and report by 30 July 2007 (see appendix 5 for statements of reasons for referral);
- (f)
- the provisions of the Migration (Sponsorship Obligations) Bill 2007 be referred immediately to the Legal and Constitutional Affairs Committee for inquiry and report by 30 July 2007 (see appendix 6 for statements of reasons for referral);
- (g)
- the provisions of the Social Security Legislation Amendment (2007 Budget Measures for Students) Bill 2007 be referred immediately to the Employment, Workplace Relations and Education Committee for inquiry and report by 30 July 2007 (see appendix 7 for statements of reasons for referral);
- (h)
- the provisions of the Superannuation Legislation Amendment Bill 2007 be referred immediately to the Finance and Public Administration Committee for inquiry and report by 27 July 2007 (see appendix 8 for statements of reasons for referral);
- (i)
- the provisions of the Tax Laws Amendment (2007 Measures No. 4) Bill 2007, Taxation (Trustee Beneficiary Non-disclosure Tax) Bill (No. 1) 2007 and the Taxation (Trustee Beneficiary Non-disclosure Tax) Bill (No. 2) 2007 be referred immediately to the Economics Committee for inquiry and report by 31 July 2007 (see appendix 9 for statements of reasons for referral);

- the provisions of the Telecommunications Legislation Amendment (Protecting Services For Rural And Regional Australia Into The Future) Bill 2007 be referred immediately to the Environment, Communications, Information Technology and the Arts Committee for inquiry and report by 30 July 2007 (see appendix 10 for statements of reasons for referral); and
- (k)
- the provisions of the Australian Technical Colleges (Flexibility in Achieving Australia’s Skills Needs) Amendment Bill (No. 2) 2007 be referred immediately to the Employment, Workplace Relations and Education Committee for inquiry and report by 7 August 2007 (see appendix 11 for statements of reasons for referral).
The committee recommends accordingly.
