I move:
- That the Senate calls on the Government to task the Department of the Treasury with modelling the cost of achieving greenhouse gas emission cuts of 40 per cent below 1990 levels by 2020 and to present the information to the Senate by 11 August 2009.

by leave—The Rudd government has already undertaken the largest economic modelling exercise in Australia’s history. Given that fact, the government does not intend to undertake further modelling and believes it is now time to get on with the huge job of reducing Australia’s emissions.
