I seek leave to amend business of the Senate notice of motion No. 4 standing in my name for today, proposing a reference to the Economics References Committee relating to the role of liquidators and administrators before asking for it to be taken as a formal motion.

I move the motion as amended:

That the following matter be referred to the Economics References Committee for inquiry and report by 31 August 2010:The role of liquidators and administrators, their fees and their practices, and the involvement and activities of the Australian Securities and Investments Commission, prior to and following the collapse of a business.
