Mr Deputy President, I seek leave to amend motion No. 544 in the terms circulated in the chamber.
Leave not granted.

Senator Brown, leave has not been granted. Do you still wish to proceed with your motion?
Bob Brown (Tasmania, Australian Greens) Share this | Link to this | Hansard source
In the event of leave not being granted by the opposition, yes, I do. I ask that general business notice of motion No. 544 be taken as formal.

Is there any objection to this motion being taken as formal?
Eric Abetz (Tasmania, Liberal Party, Shadow Minister for Employment and Workplace Relations) Share this | Link to this | Hansard source
Yes.

Mr Deputy President, during the course of the debate earlier, Senator Macdonald said that I had come in here to break the law. You ruled that was in order, but I ask you to take that Hansard to the President for his determination on the matter.

I shall do so. If the President deems it fit to come back and report to the Senate, he will.
