Mr President, I seek clarification of an issue that I raised in question time with you about the use of quotations. I draw your attention to the 13th edition of Odgers' Australian Senate Practice, specifically pages 638 and 639, in which President Brown ruled that 'it is not permissible to quote from newspapers, books or periodicals when asking questions'. I would like you to reflect on that ruling, determine whether it is appropriate and announce your deliberations to the Senate in the fullness of time.

Thank you, Senator Bernardi. I will reflect on that and report back to the Senate.
