The President has received letters requesting changes in the membership of committees. There are two nominations for the one position on the Joint Standing Committee on the National Broadband Network. In accordance with standing orders, a ballot will need to be held to determine which one of the two senators who have nominated is appointed. I understand that it is the wish of the Senate that the ballot be held on Tuesday, 11 October 2016 immediately prior to government business being called on.
