The reason for this extension is the committee's extraordinary success to date as a result of Labor, Liberal, National and One Nation members working very collaboratively together to understand what is happening to farming and primary production. We've seen extensive hurt to many farmers across the country and we have become aware of the damaging impact of receivers, in particular, and some banking practices. The committee—and I particularly note Senator John Williams—have been shocked by what we've witnessed. We need to have a much more comprehensive approach and, in accordance with the terms of reference, need to extend the time so that we can fully investigate receivers who have been causing so much damage. We need to continue the bilateral approach. I recommend this motion to the chamber.
Question agreed to.
