At the request of Senator Davey, I move:

That the Senate—

(a) notes that:

(i) on 7 February 2024, orders for production of documents nos. 455, 456 and 457, relating to the Murray-Darling Basin, were agreed by the Senate, requiring the Minister representing the Minister for the Environment and Water to table documents by no later than 26 February 2024, and

(ii) in a letter dated 23 February 2024, the Minister for the Environment and Water advised that she proposes to table the documents by 26 March 2024;

(b) requires, unless the orders are complied with in full by 26 March 2024, the Minister representing the Minister for the Environment and Water to attend the chamber after motions to take note of answers on 27 March 2024 to provide an explanation, of no more than 5 minutes, of the failure to comply with the order;

(c) any senator may move to take note of the explanation required by paragraph (b); and

(d) any motion under paragraph (c) may be debated for no longer than 30 minutes, shall have precedence over all business until determined, and senators may speak to the motion for not more than 10 minutes each.

The question is that general business notice of motion No. 482 standing in the name of Senator Davey and moved by Senator Askew be agreed to.
