I ask that general business notice of motion No. 617, proposing the introduction of a bill, be taken as formal.
Andrew McLachlan (SA, Deputy-President) Share this | Link to this | Hansard source
Is there any objection to the motion being taken as formal?
Pauline Hanson (Queensland, Pauline Hanson's One Nation Party) Share this | Link to this | Hansard source
Yes.

I'm surprised that Senator Hanson is opposing the introduction of a bill to prevent price gouging by massive corporations, which is impacting on ordinary Australians who are struggling to put food on the table. Anyway, here we find ourselves.

Senator McKim, it's not a matter for debate, but you can move to suspend.

Pursuant to contingent notice of motion standing in the name of Senator Waters, I move:
That so much of the standing orders be suspended as would prevent the motion being moved immediately and determined without amendment or debate.

Now you have the call.

I do have the call, thank you.
Honourable senators interjecting—
I beg your pardon? No, there's no debate allowed. That's right.
