The government will not be supporting this motion. The government last year commissioned the Dyer review into community engagement. In this year's budget, the government allocated $20.7 million over seven years from 2024-25 to ensure best-practice engagement with local communities and landholders as new renewables, backed by storage and transmission, are installed across the country and as ageing coal-fired power stations continue to retire. Battery related fires are rare. Senator Hanson knows this but continues to fearmonger as a way of encouraging distrust in the energy transformation. The government is focused on implementing the recommendations of the review already undertaken and will not be supporting a bad-faith distraction from Senator Hanson.

Question negatived.
