I move:

That the Senate—

(a)

congratulates the Howard/Vaile Government on measures to increase the number of doctors in Australia by lifting the cap on full fee paying places for medicine from 10 per cent to 25 per cent; and

(b)

notes that all Labor premiers at the Council of Australian Governments’ meeting embraced this initiative that will effectively offer up to an additional 400 students the opportunity to study medicine each year.
