I move:
That the ruling of the President be dissented from.
Mr President, I ask that the matter be put on the Notice Paper for debate at the next day of sitting.
I would like to support Senator Brown’s call. Children have come into this chamber in the past, and it is a situation that needs to be debated so that people have a sense of what they can do and what they cannot do.
Mr President, very quickly on the same point: I have the utmost respect for your position and the role but I also support Senator Brown. There could have been a better handling of that.
Ordered that debate be adjourned till the next day of sitting, pursuant to standing order 198.
